JUIN TECH R1BRAKE. The Juin tech R1 hydraulic cable pull road disc brake set offers a proven solution to the rider wanting to upgrade from mechanical cable pull disc brakes. With over 4 years on the market the JuinTech R1 is proving to be a serious contender to full hydraulic brakes. The brake pads operate by a cable actuated closed hydraulic mineral oil system. This allows the rider to use their normal sti/ergo or flat bar levers on a disc brake bike without the expense of upgrading everything to a full hydraulic system.

Braking performance is enhanced over a mechanical disc brake and the caliper has easy pad and cable adjustment. The pistons actuate in a parallel motion unlike the one sided movement of a mechanical disc brake and at approx. 142grams per calliper they offer a substantial weight saving.

We have tested these brakes in the 3 Peaks Cyclocross race, outstanding braking performance and stopping power. The brakes were put through their paces on some of the most gruelling descents you would every try to ride a cyclocross bike.

4 x Postmount bolts & washers – long

2 x 160mm Stainless Steel Rotors (6 Bolt IS)
12 x torq screws to mount rotors

Frequently Asked Questions:

Minimum rotor size: 160mm

Using other rotors: The JuinTech R1 brakes will work fine with any other 160mm rotor. If you already have some Avid’s etc in 160mm, don’t worry the brakes will work just fine.

Why can’t I use 140mm rotors?

160mm rotors are the optimum size rotor to get the most efficient and effective braking from the Juin Tech R1 brakes. To maintain your 12months manufacturers warranty you need to run a 160mm rotor.

Using a 140mm rotor will void your warranty and impair the braking performance of the Juin Tech R1 brake. A 140mm rotor will reduce the braking performance and also prevent maximum heat dissipation leading to reduced braking performance.

If you are concerned about weight, don’t be, if you take into consideration the weight saving you are gaining from the caliper, the few extra grams of a 160mm rotor over a 140mm is minimal. Whats better? increased braking performance, allowing you to brake later beating your competitor into the corner or saving a few grams?
